Then will be Qualifying, which will take place at seperate occasions, times TBA. The Qualifying this year will be changed to a new format.  Instead of having qualifying admins, we will have qualifying sessions.  There will be serveral sessions held were everyone will quailfy one after the other.  If you miss out on these sessions you will have to start in the back of the field.

Last years pole time was a whopping 47.986 posted by Flame12, but was not able to race so Abbot took the pole slot who was second.  Lucky for you all I have not seen him around lately.  If you don't qualifying high enough to make a Track A apperance you still have a chance to make it.  The Gaterade Duels, February 12th at 8PM EST, will determine the starting grid for the Dayonta 500.  After qualifying is complete we will split up the racers in odds and evens.  Odds will be in Gaterade Duels 1 and Evens in Gaterade Duel 2. The pole sitter and the 2nd best qualifying times will remain at the top of the charts for the Daytona 500, regardless of there finish in the Gaterade Duels.  Based on the finishing results in the Twin Gaterade Duels will determine your starting postion for the Daytona 500.  So if you finish 7th or better in the Duels you are pretty much garunteed a Track A spot, depending on were the 1st and 2nd place pole sitters are in the line up.

Then we have the Daytona 500, what everyone has been waiting for since November.  The Daytona 500 is a eye opener for a lot of people, who want to race those Super Speedway tracks.  They are pretty popular as we all know.  The Daytona 500 will be held February 13th at 8PM EST, one day before Valintines Day.  So don't forget about your better half. Be sure to buy them something nice, to make up the 3 hours you will be with NRL on Saturday.

Here is part of an article post by the big man himself MWils1 on 22 February 2009, Last years Daytona 500 Winning Article - "Oh yeah… the Daytona 500…. Moving up to track A…and starting 13th, It was Ijeremy, sporting a new ride and number… Jeremy got a push near the end to outlast rookie Darkshaman to take the Victory!! Jeremy also led 102 laps to gain the maximum points for the race and jump out to a 20 point lead in the standings heading into next week’s Auto Club 500 in Cali. GREAT JOB Jeremy !!!

DarkShaman was strong throughout the entire race…also staying with the lead pack…which in many cases was 6-8 cars deep…Dark took second place and easily communicated to his fellow Nuffers that he ain’t no joke!!! He will be a force to deal with!!

Taking 3rd place on track A was SmokeytheBear….what was really impressive with Smokey’s finish is that he got hit with a black flag around lap 120-130…served it and took advantage of one of the few cautions to get back to the lead pack. Awesome Smokey !!!"
