Nextel Series Top Ranked AND Defending Champ Abbotttazz Back On Top

Just when I think we've seen it all in the NRL.... something brand spanking new occurs!!

Get ready for a long one....lol... we'll wait for you to get some coffee...::smile::...   OK HERE WE GO!

With 3 races done and only 1 lap to go in the exciting Watkin's Glen race on Saturday in the Nextel Series... the presses were rolling. The Headlines were done.... several questions looked to be answered and the Nuffers were already talking about the upcoming week.

The NRL rankings were pretty much done and the second week of the newly published "Kmack's Smack" was already in the editing room for final review before publishing.

Then what I think was the wildest finish...:::we've said that a few times...lol::: in NRL history STOPPED The Presses !!! All reporters scrambled for new headliners and interviews..."This improbable result not only impacted the Nextel Series Results and Rankings...the overall rankings and the storylines which included the results of the races earlier in the week were all impacted" Said a bewildered Mwils.

OK so now that your taste buds are hungry for what happened...we'll put the Nextel Series on ice and get into what happened earlier during the week. That will also give you a better idea of why so much "hoopla" going into and coming out of the week's final race..... coo?

As usual...we started the week in the Craftsman Series....running the Win Dixie 250 at the ever so popular Daytona Speedway. In the weekly preview...We pondered whether 6th ranked Trucker Buster would come out of hiding...lol. With 4 wins under his belt at Daytona... the call was out!!! Well... Buster was ready to go...as was another top Daytona Track racer...DaleReynolds...who was racing in his first truck race. Dale has 3 wins of his own here and we knew The Tazzman...ranked 2nd overall and 9th in the series... would be ready to go!! Ahhhhh but no one expected 16th ranked Reaper79 to come in here and steal the show!!

Well...that's exactly what happened!! The Reapster fought off xCablemanx in an exciting finish...crossing the finish line with about a 1/2 car length lead to take the victory!! Cableman took 2nd and NRL Top Ranked IJeremy settled for 3rd place after the favorites were all knocked out of contention due to early fenda-bendazzzz a plenty !!

Both Abbott and Buster fell out of contention and eventually the race due to engine trouble....so there went my predictions...lol !!! Mwils was very strong in this one...along with Jeremy and TheGift. The 3 were out front for most of the first half of the race. A bit later... Reaper joined the threesome out front...while Cableman stayed out of harms way...expecting it to get a bit aggressive up front. Cableman was right as it did get a bit hectic! TheGift and Jeremy were sitting 1-2 while Mwils1 and Reaper sat in the 3-4 slots. Several laps saw the frontrunners go 3 wide..alternating racers when Reaper made the move of the race. He fell back......lol. Mwils looked back and there was no Reaper around. "Hey Reaper...where are you dawg?" asked Mwils.... "Ohhhh.... I think I will hang back here with Cableman for awhile... it's getting pretty wild up there" SHONUFF....a few laps later...Jeremy gave TheGift...who was out front...a slight tap in the tri-oval...which sent TheGift spinning and had Mwils standing on his brakes !!! That was not enough as the 3 frontrunners suffered damage they could not recover from. Exit TheGift...Jeremy and Mwils and enter Reaper and Cableman....lol. Nuff Sed...  CONGRATS REAPER!!!

Up next??? The Exciting IROC-A-THON series.... which has been adding new racers every week to the series. Each week we've been getting a strong showing of at least 15 Nuffers!!!  WOW... 

Well this week was no different......and neither were the results !!!
15 Nuffers were ready to take on a tough Milwaukee Mile Track.

If you've been keeping up with the series...you'd notice that DaleReynolds and Bustersnm have been kickin booty in this series...both with 3 wins over the first 6 races. Wellll..... nothing changed here.... The Top Two Ranked IROC Nuffers... Dale and Buster won their tracks....again!!! "Man we gotta get them on the same track a coupla times!!!"

On track A... DaleReynolds was picked to finish 3rd in the weekly preview... WHY? I mean...though Dale is the Top Ranked IROC Nuffer...he had formidable opponents on track A.. He really hadn't proved himself on short tracks yet. Oh he's HOT on Speedways...and Road Courses..but with Short Track Star TheGift on the scene...along with an overdue UncleChucke and the steady presence of Mwils1 and Duecey...oh... and don't forget the hungry Discjockey... it was unlikely that Dale would be able to strut his stuff at Milwaukee!! Ohhh contraire... CONGRATS DALE !!!

The favorite to win this one...TheGift did place second while UncleChucke continues his steady racing with a 3rd place finish !!

Now over on Track B.... The weekly preview said this one was too close to call !! With Bustersnm...Abbott and Jeremy on the same track?!?! Ahhh... but we were close on the results!! Even with those 3 hammers on the track... we had a feeling about the surging DueceyDu and return of Big Mike. Only thing is...out of the top 3... We figured 1 of those 3 would not be there at the end...Buster's fortuned had to run out right??? And with Jeremy already logging 2 wins at Milwaukee...along with Abbottazz'a masterful ability to drive default setups...it was a good choice that Buster would be the odd man out...right??  UH UH !!

Buster was right there....lol... And when the star of the race...Abbott had car trouble late after simply dominating the race early...Buster took home his 4th win!!! Right place at the right time huh Buster??? Oh .... that won't be the only time you readers see that lil motto. That's FOSHO!! GREAT JOB Buster !!

It's no surprise that Big Mike Racing and DueceyDu finished  2nd and 3rd respectively. Nope.... no surprised at all !!! Awesome job fellas!!

So DaleReynolds continues atop the standings... but still has at least 5 Nuffers within 100 pts of him as we move on to Mwils' new home state of Texas!!! WHEEEE DAWGIE !! We'll be running Busch Cars again in Texas. Don't forget to check out Mwils' week preview!!! He just might predict himself a winner this week...LOL!!!

WOW.... So after a coupla exciting races.... a week of rest in Jeremy's ::lol:: Busch Series... we really did not expect many Nuffers to show up for the Watkins Glen race on Friday Night!! I mean...the series is done right.... yeah 2nd through 5th are award positions up for grabs but who wanted to race 82 laps at another treacherous road course???
Surprisingly... 12 Nuffers did !!!!!!

Wellll... maybe not so surprising as we were gonna be at the same track the next day for the biggun... the nextel series!! But we still did not spend much time studying this race.....lesson learned !! We figured Jeremy would come in at take home another Busch Victory as he approaches the record for Series Victories. As well... Jeremy had his winning streak snapped the previous Busch race by TheGift.

Now we have a new streak going on!!! TheGift... ranked 10th in the Busch Series at the start of the race... followed up his big win at ORP with his second straight.... this time leading 55 laps and sparking yet more questions about the Centurion Boat's Race the next day!!! Great Job Gift !! The win will definitely raise Gift's stock in the Busch Power rankings...And it's not too late for TheGift to sneak into a "money slot" in the standings.

UncleChucke...racing in his 1st Busch Race.. posted his 2nd top 3 finish of the week...continuing a really strong surge of racing. I'm telling you...watch out for Chucke. A little "right place at the right time" luck will set this Nuffer on a torrid streak of wins !!! ::::oh...that's still not the last time you'll read that lil motto:::: And Jeremy finished off the top 3 with a strong race off his own.

Also Congrats to Abbottazz... who took a nasty hit near the end to knock him out.... but Abbott did set the new Lap Record for Busch Cars at Da Glen with a sterling 1:12.108 lap!!

OKAY !!!!!! YOU ALL READY TO READ WHAT STOPPED THE PRESSES?!?!?!?!!

What an amazing finish to the week NUFFERS !!! The NRL excitedly raced 13 on the same track with minimal problems. The Nextel Series' Centurion Boats Challenge at Watkins Glen!!! Several questions were pondered before the race.... including a new one after the previous night's Busch Results!!

Early on... the questions that were pondered during the week's preview were.....

Would Abbottazz finish the deal this time after dominating last year's race until the end?
Would Jeremy defend his title from last year?
Would DaleReynolds sweep this season's road courses?

Oh... those were just a few questions we looked into. BUT...after Friday Night's strong victory from theGift... the new question?  Would TheGift sweep the week's races at The Glen?!?! He was really strong on Friday Night. We knew that the official pace car would be very busy on Saturday...lol... We also knew that many Nuffers would be on the lead lap at the end of the race....so this one was predicted to be very interesting....and exciting.

The weekly preview noted that a close eye would be kept on Nextel's 4th ranked DaleReynolds...and Kmack91 also predicted this man was gonna be there at the end. And now cue the motto... ::: RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME ::::  lol !!

Man... to get a betta idea of what went on here... we gotta go back to lap 83 of 90. TheGift....who quickly answered any question as to whether he was ready for this race... was in total control ...leading over 70% of the laps and constantly out front and pulling away. The presses started rolling and everyone was packing up in preparation for the new week. This one was done.... TheGift was gonna sweep...and Dale was not. Dat was gonna be Dat !!

Then it started....lol. On lap 83... TheGift raced into a turn a bit too hard trying to get around Abbotttazz... As a result...Abbott ended up knocking TheGift off into the grassy plain...lol. Well...the race officials didn't think it was funny I guess as they issued TheGift a Black Flag. Oh the EA officials were not in a good mood...lol... quite a few Nuffers served black flags throughout this race...lol.... ok ok back to what happened.... TheGift was prepared to serve the Black Flag on the lap 84...leaving him 6 laps to get back up front. Before he could get in.... the 17th and final caution came out !!! UH OH.... so that would really put a squeeze on TheGift... who was still preparing to serve his flag when the race went green....which it did with 4 laps to go. Then it started....::: oh I already said that::: With a bit of a surprising...and excited tone...TheGift announced..."HEY..The Black Flag is Gone !!!!" Wowowow....everyone was speechless.... oh... not only that... with just 2 laps to go... the focus was positions 2nd through 6th.... which were all bunched together and up for grabs while TheGift was safely out front.

So the dilemma for TheGift...was the Black Flag an EA Glitch?? Should he serve it anyway with only 2 laps to go after that last caution?? If he served it... it would have been almost impossible for him to recover... just not enough laps. He decided to stay out...which was completely understandable. It was really a tough call for Mwils the track official as he pondered having TheGift serve the black flag anyway. With it being so late in the race...and the crazy EA glitches.. the only weight Mwils could put on making TheGift serve the Flag...was his own verbal admission that he got one in the first place.... Yeah.... you getting it now.... lol. So Mwils decided to let the race continue on as EA saw fit.

Now the final lap... TheGift was wayyyy out front... Abbottazz, Jeremy, Duecey, DaleReynolds and Mwils1 were all bunched together in turn 1 of the final lap!!!!!! ... YA... The Final Lap !!!! You know what that mean right? YUP.... NO Caution would be able to stop this one from finishing green !!

Well...Duecey....who again ran a very strong race and has been surging lately...spun out on his own right outta turn 1.... that left Abbott and Jeremy racing bumpa to bumpa and fighting for 2nd and 3rd. Mwils got by DaleReynolds when Duecey spun for 4th while Dale harassed Mwils in the 5th place slot. TheGift was already approaching the finish line for an apparent win while Abbott and Jeremy raced hard into turn 10... with Mwils and Dale very close behind. Turn 10 will now go down in NRL history....as Abbott and Jeremy slid right off into the grass !! A WIDE EYED Mwils musta felt like a "deer in lights" as he approached turn 10 while witnessing the Abbott/Jeremy ordeal.... Mwils did not brake fast enough and went sliding right behind Abbott and Jeremy....LOL !! Dale had to be laughin out loud as he safely negotiated turn 10 and gained 3 positions as a result!!

Abbott Jeremy and Mwils were able to recover before anyone else could catch them and prepared to settle for top 5 finishes. Then it happened.... lol

The Standings appeared....  silence at first... TheGift was not the Winna.... DaleReynolds was given the WIN!!!! and all other Nuffers moved up a spot. WHOA !!!! TheGift was not even in the top 5.... right away we all knew it had to do with that mysterious black flag !! So Dale ended up posting his 2nd win of the week and settled the preview questions. He Swept the season road courses!!!!!!!! WOWOWOWOW....

Though Gift was justified in putting up a fight... but he agreed with the NRL Official decision that DaleReynolds be awarded the win!!

TheGift ended up in 8th place but with 69 laps led..still ended up with top 5 finishing points. What a doozy !! Oh...by the way... TheGift also set the lap record for COTs at 1:10.532 qualifying lap!!

Ijeremy was the first to recover from the turn 10 mishap to gain second place while defending Champion Abbotttazz finished 3rd and is now in position to defend his title...sitting atop the Nextel Standings for the first time this year !! DOUBLE UH OH !!!!! Abbott hasn't even got started yet...Will he shift into a new gear now that he's out front?!?!
